Some country-code registries don’t run RDAP or don’t publish expiry dates, and privacy rules hide some data. In that case, check with the registrar.
Most registrars give a grace period during which the owner can still renew, sometimes followed by a redemption period with extra fees. After that the domain can be released and registered by someone else.
They are registry status codes. Client transfer prohibited is a normal lock that stops unauthorized transfers. Statuses such as redemption period or pending delete mean the domain has expired and needs urgent action.
