Cronitor Alternative: SensaCat
Cronitor charges $2 per monitor plus $5 per user. The meter is the reason people leave, not the product.
SensaCat is the cheaper choice once you pass roughly ten monitors, and it adds credential and domain expiry that Cronitor does not cover. Cronitor is the better choice if you need 30-second checks, synthetic browser checks or real user monitoring.

What Cronitor does well
Cronitor has been the cron monitoring specialist since 2014 and the depth shows. Run, complete and fail states give you far more than did-it-ping, and the notification-list design is good enough that we copied the idea for notify groups.
The product is genuinely broader than cron. Uptime, API, heartbeat, synthetic browser checks and real user monitoring all live in one account, with 30-second check frequency on Business and eleven alert integrations.
Twelve-month data retention and unlimited API requests on the paid plan are more generous than most of this category.
The gap: the meter, and what it does at scale
Cronitor charges $2 per monitor per month plus $5 per dashboard user. Their own pricing page works the example: 20 monitors and 3 users is $55 a month. At 50 monitors and 5 users you are at $125.
The free Hacker tier is 5 monitors with no SMS and no premium integrations. Enterprise starts at $6,000 a year, so there is a large gap between self-serve and the next step up.
Extras are metered too. A branded status page is $25/month, a private one $50/month, and SAML SSO is an extra $5 per user on top of the $5 seat. None of that is hidden, but it adds up in a way a flat plan does not.
On coverage: Cronitor watches jobs and endpoints. It does not track API-key or credential expiry, and it has no concept of a multi-step business process tied to a specific order or user ID.

Who should stay on Cronitor
Stay if you need sub-minute checks, browser checks or RUM, or if you are under ten monitors with one user, where the meter is genuinely cheap. Cronitor at 5 monitors and 1 user is $10 a month, and it is a better cron product than ours at that size.
Switch when the per-unit bill starts growing faster than your monitoring actually is, or when you notice the expiry-shaped failures nobody owns. A flat plan is not automatically cheaper, so do the arithmetic on your own monitor and seat count first.
